Why, Yes, I Am A Happy Mom

Good evening, peeps and peepettes!!  Busy, busy, busy here at the rancho.  I had a four day weekend, but was on the go most of the time.  LOL  I've been spending as much time as possible with Baby Boy. Friday was a book store, a leather store (for supplies), a yarn store (LOL), and then TACOS!! Saturday was home chores and a movie. Sunday, errands and  Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings.  Monday, an antique store, a yarn store (LOL) and lunch.  This is a great BBQ place with inside and outside seating. We were the only group on the patio since it was chilly, but it was comfortable enough with a sweatshirt. Here is a picture of Baby Boy.  Isn't he sweet?  LOL

Hubby and Baby boy...

My hamburger...Yummy...

What I wanted...Diet Pepsi...

What I got....WATER!!  LOL

This is a great bottle.  It is stainless steel, double walled, no sweating, and keeps cold stuff cold for over 12 hours.  I keep it with ice water all the time to encourage me to drink more water.

Baby Boy will be here until Sunday, so we're making plans!  We will do at least one more trip to the coast and try to stop at a few more thrift stores.  He always finds great stuff!

And for all the yarn fans out there, here is my latest crochet project.  This is for my stepson who loves red. I couldn't find a really bold variegated, but thought this one looked nice with the black and red.

So off to finish my evening.  I am working three days this week, then another four day weekend.  I kind of like this schedule.  LOL  Take care and be kind to one another.

  1. Yay! What a fabulous time you are having with your son. I have told you before, but he is such a handsome young man. And loving obviously to go with you to yarn shops. ;) What a neat blanket you are creating for your stepson.

  2. Good morning, Vickie! He is so patient with me. LOL While we were in the Bay Area, he was happy to go to the yarn shop. Both of us wandered around, he never tells me to hurry. Then, he insisted that I go to the fabric store! LOL I was willing to skip the shop, but he reminded me how much I love their fabric.

I am having fun with my stepson's blanket. He chose the red color, but this will be a surprise. I love surprises...LOL Have a great day!

  3. Ahh he's a cutie! I love how all the things you have been doing includes yarn shops! Yay! Sorry, I'll calm down now, but YARN! Yay! No really I am much calmer now. :) Oh I like your new crochet project. The red is very pretty. Enjoy your time off and hope you all have an awesome time! I am looking forward to your posts afterwards to get to hear about the cool places you all went to. Remember, a journey worth taking, must include yarn! Wishing you a lovely day. :)

    1. That is just the way I see it. LOL Any day with yarn is a good day.

We both love thrift stores. And he definitely wants to walk on the beach. Not a lot of beaches in Iowa, you know. LOL

    2. Yeah, we aren't exactly known for our beaches here in Kentucky either! :) I do miss the beach. Having grown up in Florida and being able to go anytime I wanted....the warm sunshine, the salty air, the sound of seagulls, the roar of the ocean as it crashes to shore....sniff, sniff...hold on I gotta get a tissue....dang I miss home! :) Hope you two find some good loot at the thrift stores. Safe travels and wishing you all much joy and a most lovely day. :)

  4. The men in your life are handsome, Angela! Great photos. What a wonderful time you are having and how accommodating your son is to go to your favourites too. That's going to be a great surprise for step-son. You are so fast with the crocheting. I'm still plugging along on blanket #1 :)

    1. Thank you!! I'm not that fast...I just use BIG stitches! LOL When I sent him a picture of my last blanket, he said that he would like one. I kind of hemmed and hawed, so he really doesn't know about it. I picked the colors, but he loves red, so I'm sure that it will be a winner. LOL

    2. Oh and why couldn't you have a diet pepsi? The aspertame??

    3. I'm trying to cut at least some chemicals out of my diet...I changed to cast iron pans, am down to one soda a week (down from seven!) and stopped drinking instant flavored iced tea (usually five packs a day!). I was out of control. Water is a small change, but at least it is a change.

  5. Thrift stores and yarn stores!! Sounds like a great way to spend your time. Your yarn progress looks beautiful :)

Thanks for the comment. Lol The recipe didn't even say how many calories.....and I'm pretty sure I never want to find out.

That's a good way to drink move water. I actually stopped drinking sodas last year and my body is completely ok with water all the time (excusing the occasional Starbucks drink).

    1. I am committed to water, but as soon as you put a diet Mountain Dew in front of me...I am weak. LOL And heaven forbid that it's a refillable glass, because I will make sure that it's to the top before I leave. LOL
