A Little Chillier Than Usual....

Happy Saturday from chilly California.  I had to put on a sweat shirt, long pants, and shoes today...oh my poor, tiny, cold toes...

This morning, I took a walk out to the garbage cans.  Here are a couple pictures of my car:

Snow you ask?  Oh no, just frost.  I'll be honest, I don't like cold.  Anything under 40 degrees is really unacceptable.  It was down to 28 degrees last night and has stayed around 43 degrees most of the day. It rained on Thursday and Friday, so I should be glad that it wasn't cold then!  We got one and three quarters of an inch of rain.  Yay!

Less than 50 feet away, you will find my flower pots and rose bushes.  Really?  Really-really? LOL

These plants are next to the house, so I know that's why they are still blooming.  But, it seems wrong. LOL

Meanwhile, my son sent me a video of him in Iowa City...yes, it is snowing and holding at about 17 degrees.  I don't complain to him.

It's been a long week.  Asleep on the couch last night at 8 pm, but did move to bed at midnight and up at 5 am.  At least it wasn't another 13 hour power sleep.

I've tried to work for at least an hour every night on my current project scarf.  I think I made it 3 out of 5 nights.  LOL  The grey stripe at the top will be 7 inches wide, but then there will be more and smaller stripes going towards the end.  Very uneven color changes, but I think that will add to its charm. I wanted to send it to Iowa for my son's friend before Christmas, but I don't think I'm going to make it.  LOL

I starting my countdown to Baby Boy's visit...only 17 days left until his arrival in California.  I sure do love that kid.  I call him almost every day.  We are making plans.

Dad is a bit congested.  He is still eating, but not with the same gusto that he usually shows. Sigh...His 84th birthday is January 24th.  Will that be the end?  I guess that no one really knows.  I am trying to keep up the Christmas spirit.  Hubby is doing better than I expected, though he keeps asking what I want for Christmas.  I feel like I have everything that I need.  And as for "want"...I am wanting less and less these days.  I have my family, my health, and enough money to pay my bills and still have some for crafts. Again I ask myself, when is enough, enough?  I think that time is now...

Have a wonderful weekend.  Be kind to one another.

    1. Ok, that was funny. I keep thinking that my Baby Boy will be thirty and pretty soon he won't need me anymore...then I'm like, nah...I'm too annoying. I wouldn't let him get away with that. LOL LOL

Have a good weekend and stay warm...

  2. Well Angela, you would sure hate what we are going through...our second day of Winter Storm Warning. 2o cm of snow today and another 5 to 10 overnight. But on the up side, it is cosy inside near the fire and it gives a great excuse for staying there. So kind of lazy days. Meanwhile, your scarf is wonderful and I'm so happy for you to have the young lad home with you soon. Just curious, do you know there are windshield scrapers you can use to get rid of the frost or was it meltable with the car heater.

    1. Oh yes, I got one for Christmas one year. That's the kind of gift you get when your husband is a mechanic. LOL I just don't need to use it very often. I love to look AT snow, but not be IN snow. I have only driven once in a snow "storm" and it wasn't really a storm. I have lived a very sheltered life. LOL

    2. And that's just what I'm doing alot lately...looking at snow. Dread driving in the stuff..that's the worse thing about our winters for me. Farmers Almanac was right on...early winter and a hard winter. I don't know; is this on a par or worse than a drought. If only Mother Nature could balance it all out heh.

  3. I'm totally with you when it comes to cold temperatures and winter. I just don't like it. But as I live in a mountainous region I have to go through it every year, lol. It's like a wonder to me that you still have flowers blooming. But well, it's not the mountains but California ...
This scarf looks absolutely great. Great for you that your Baby Boy's visit is getting nearer and nearer.

    1. I love to visit mountains, but usually when it is spring or summer. LOL One of my favorite places is the Sierras in California...the smell of the fire places in the early autumn, the crisp air...so beautiful. But, when they talk snow, I'm back to the valley. LOL

  4. Roses?! We are getting dumped on with snow. It is currently -2º! I don't like it either, but hey, I have lived here my whole life.
Keep at the scarf! ;) God bless you three there. Soon to be four! :D

    1. It hit 23 degrees last night, but the flowers are close to the house. I may have roses for a few more weeks.

I am so excited to see my son...it's been eight months. I'm having "mom" withdrawals. LOL

So happy for you that baby boy will be home soon!!!
Yeah for the rain. My LA son said they got about an inch. I'm sure you can use that and much more.
Sorry that dad is not doing well. It's so hard but he's lucky to have you.
    Merry, merry :)

    1. Good morning, Lauren. There is nothing like a visit from a son to warm a mom's heart. SMILE

I will take whatever rain we can get, even if it's just one inch at a time. LOL
