This and That...That and This

Good morning from the rancho!!

It was a long, long week...even though it was only four working days. LOL  I'm settling into my new job. All that really means is that I've moved my stuff into an office about 20 feet away and changed my title on my email.  I'm still doing the same work...ordering all the food for next quarter.  To give you an idea of how much food we order, we are given $3.80 a DAY to feed our group of 4000...at 91 days, that's $1.4 million! Sometimes I feel like I'm running my own little city.  LOL I always get a bit nervous right before I hit the "save" button on the computer when I finish the purchase orders.

I'm back on the treadmill, but only 15-20 minutes a day.  My hips are still bothering me, but with the arthritis, I expected that.  At least I'm doing something.  I think that as I get back into my walking program, I will get more comfortable.

Here's the update on my cross stitch.  Not much, but I've got the alphabet almost done.  I have to get this finished soon if I want to take it to the stitching retreat in April.  Must stitch, must stitch, must stitch.  LOL

I'm moving along on the scarf.  All the color is done, so now it's just finishing with the black tweed.

The first phalaenopis has bloomed.  I think I've found the secret...just ignore them.  LOL

We had a nice lunch last Sunday and topped it off with dessert from the Brown Butter Cookie Company. This is a bakery in Cayucos...very tasty.  And, I love their sign!  You can pretty much change the word "cookie" to anything...chocolate, ice cream, pie...definitely my kind of sign. LOL

Okay, peeps, I have to get this show on the road.  We only got a little sprinkle of rain last night, so I need to do some outside work today, as well as the usual chores, chores, chores.  LOL

Have a wonderful Sunday, be kind to one another.

  1. Oh I love your stitching. Retreat? Hmmm and why was I not informed, invited to this? Hmmm! Love the scarf. Oh yeah, a good cookie can make the day much brighter. I say, instead of "let them eat cake"...."let them eat cookies". :) Hope you are having a lovely day sweet friend. ((hugs))

    1. This is my annual trip to Modesto and the "stitching, sewing, finishing" weekend with Elegant Stitch. I get to stay in a hotel, eat pizza every night if I want, and just plain rest. And if you want to start heading this way...I would be happy to share my pizza and stitching time with you! LOL

    2. That's a deal! Wow, can you imagine the two of us together? Modesto would never be the same again. :) I expect a full report, of course...including lots of pictures. I am green all over with envy....or is that just yarn fuzzes? Hmmm.
Wishing you a most lovely day sweet friend. :)

  2. Can I assume you work at a prison? That's a lot of mouths to feed.
Your stitching is lovely and I'm sure the retreat will be great fun!
    Love the orchid and scarf.
I hate the treadmill but get on it daily. Congrats for getting back to it.
    Happy Sunday :)

    1. Yes, you may. LOL It will be 33 years in May. A very long time with no parole in sight. I am very fortunate, I still enjoy my job. Not every single day, but most days. LOL

    1. Thank you, I am so done with scarves. If my husband suggests one more scarf, I will probably run from the room screaming. LOL Do I love the treadmill? No. Do I need the treadmill? Yep.

Yum.....I totally approve of that slogan. Just as good as 'eat dessert first' ;)

    Have a great week!!

  5. Angela, I've heard of moving 'sideways' in a job...a little like what you have done but that seems like a lot of responsibility too. Glad you had a good outing; I don't know what they do with cookies in those places but they always taste so good. I love that alphabet...have a thing about them maybe because I was a reading teacher in my career. Scarves are such nifty things to knit; I am thinking about tackling socks. What do you think?

    1. One of my bucket list projects is socks. So, I say yes, make the socks! You are so talented, you'll probably be making them by the dozen in a month or so! LOL And if there are any that are just not quite right, I would be happy to take them off your hands. LOL

There is something about cookies that are fresh. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

    2. Yes, I'm really going to try socks...I don't know tho there is something about handling 3 or 4 needles at a time that intimidates me. But no harm in trying. Yes, who doesn't like knit wool socks; they are a staple where I grew up...every woman even young girls could knit them. Don't know how it missed me!

  6. This little alphabet is so cute, Angela, and the cutest part is the little bird. I just love birds :)
    Great knitting, too.
I wish we had this kind of cookies over here. They are so overly delicious and I could have them as dessert each and every day, lol.

    1. Thank you! This is a super fast stitch, if I would just sit down and stitch it. LOL

This company has a bakery in our town, too. I try not to go there very often. Just too much good stuff. LOL
