Good morning from the rancho....
I know that everyone has been holding their breath, waiting to hear what I've been up to this past week! LOL
Well....I have not been vacationing on the coast of France.
I have not been winning hundreds of thousands of dollars at the blackjack tables in Las Vegas.
I have not been climbing Mount Everest.
What I have been doing is a bit of stitching, a bit of sewing, and lots of naps. LOL
Here is the latest photo of my stitching. I've finished the second urn and flowers. I'm only doing 15 to 30 minutes of stitching a night, but it's better than none at all!
So I was over on Facebook and saw this picture with the title "Do You Remember When..."
It made me laugh, a lot. Because, THIS is what I remember....
This is not a picture of one of my family members, but it pretty darn close! The nose, the mustache, this picture looks a lot like my Uncle Renzo and my dad!! We had a milk cow up to the day that we moved "to town". I still shake the jug of milk to mix the cream and milk, even though I haven't drank REAL whole milk in 40 years!
I've got today off, so I am planning a little time by myself. I have a caregiver for Dad, so I am heading out to pick up a new pair of work shoes and stuff for Dad. Oh, and the fabric store is right down the street from the shoe store....Hmmm, is that a sign? LOL
I hope that each of you have a wonderful day, be kind to one another.
I hope you are having fun today Angela. And being successful at getting your list accomplished.
ReplyDeleteGot everything done except picking up an algae eater for my fish tank. I can do that tomorrow on the way home! LOL It was a good day.
ReplyDeleteI remember as a kid we had to put a sign in the window at night if we wanted milk the next day. We would leave pre-paid tokens in the empty bottles by the back porch and the milkman would replace with full bottles. And lord help whoever forgot to put the sign in the window and grandma had no milk. Lol
ReplyDeleteI was never very good milking by hand. It is a LOT harder than it looks. LOL But I was responsible to get Betsy and Elsie into the stanchion, get them settled and add the hay. While Dad milked, I would hang out and chat. I loved the extra time with him. But, you had to be pretty careful at that end. When cows decide to "go", they "go". LOL That part is not so bad, but it was always on their tails and they LOVE to smack you with it as you walked by. Ahhh, the memories of youth. LOL
ReplyDeleteImagine, you have had real cow experiences Angela. I see so many all around here but I've never ever milked one or gotten that close really. Growing up milk was in bottles and delivered to the door but I also remember something called milk powder. Is that possible? Anyway, hope you had a great outing and break for yourself. Oh and I love those pinwheels.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Jocelyn. Thank you. I am fond of reproduction prints, so I am having fun with these patterns.
ReplyDeleteWe have "dry" or "powdered" milk available. We used it in case of emergency and I use it in some of my bread recipes.
LOL at the real cow experience. Yes, I suppose I have! But, I enjoyed the experiences at the end that eats better than the other end! LOL I will have to post my thoughts on changing sprinkler pipes in the summer and why you don't wear shoes. LOL
