Did You Celebrate "I LOVE YARN" Day?

Good morning and happy Sunday!  Really.  It's Sunday.  I checked.  LOL

My husband and I traveled to Fresno yesterday for him to take a test.  After the test, we (okay, I) decided to stop at a yarn store in Fresno.  Yesterday was "I Love Yarn Day".  I decided to celebrate by purchasing  adopting two lonely skeins of yarn.  Thank you, I did my part.  LOL It wasn't a very big shop, but the owner had some amazing yarns and carries quite a bit of Malabrigo, Madelinetosh, and Anzula. I found out that Anzula yarn is made in Fresno.  How cool is that!  I know I said I wouldn't use that tiny yarn anymore, but isn't this beautiful?  And of course, it has a sparkle...

I spent part of my wait knitting and napping.  I didn't get a picture of my nap.  LOL

This scarf is speeding along.  Amazing how a worsted yarn and size 8 needles changes your attitude. The pink is quite bright (it's called Tutu) but it is perfect for this pattern.  The stitch definition is nice.

I fit in a side trip to Starbucks.  What is this? A little bit of heaven in a bag?  Yay!  I bought two.  I figure if I use 1/3 of each package, each day, I can stretch the mix out for 24 days.  Yep.  I'm a planner.  LOL

I finished this little punch needle last year.  It is an odd size, so it took me a while to find something to mount it on...I hope it's not as crooked as it looks in this picture...I'll have to go check it out.  LOL

We got a little bit of rain yesterday.  Not much.  Not even enough to show in the rain gauge.  But, it did rain!  The smell of damp dirt, I almost swooned. I am ever hopeful that this will be the year of the rain.  We are still on the wait list for a new well.  Sigh.  I'm getting used to three minute showers and not drinking the water from the faucet.  LOL  We figured out that we use about 2500 gallons every two weeks.  But, no watering outside and I save all my washing machine rinse water to water my plants on the patio.  I'm getting pretty good at guessing when the rinse cycle starts.

I wish each of you a wonderful day filled with good things.  Be kind to one another.

  1. ooOoo! Your tutu pink scarf is awesome! Way to go!
I love pumpkin spice lattes also! The only way I can enjoy them now though, is almost room temperature, or I get a headache. Your oak punch needle finish is great Angela!

    1. Isn't that the most lovely shade of pink? LOL The more I knit, the more I like it. Pumpkin is the bestest flavor in the whole world...well, except for chocolate. LOL

  2. I, too, hope that this is the year of the rain for you. We are in Salt Lake City and they said the great Salt Lake is down 7 feet. It was raining when we left Northern California. I'm sure they were thankful and they are not nearly as drought stricken as you are. Hopefully you will have a new well soon.
    Hugs :)

  3. What is it about yarn shopping (and fabric shopping) that just lifts the spirits. Wow, that pink is gorgeous. What stitch is that? Really nice. And I love your leaf...oak, next to maple, my favourite. :)

    1. The yarn is a simple knit/purl checkerboard pattern. I'm old, so I usually pick easy patterns. LOL And thank you for recognizing the oak leaf! It was one of my first projects and a little primitive (sloppy). LOL

  4. Oh I love the pink scarf. Is that a basket weave pattern? They are among my fav's when it comes to scarf patterns. Such a lovely yarn. Ohhh like your punch needle finish, too. :) Good for you in giving those two lovely little skeins a good home! Sadly, my house is too full....although, I have been thinking of taking hubby's computer room and making it into a storage room for the craft studio. :) Wishing you many blessings sweet friend. :)

  5. Yarn shopping is for you what is thread shopping for me. IT makes me feel sooooo good to see a pile of new DMCs in front of me and imagine what I will do with them, lol.
Nice punch needle project. And that bright pink of your new scarf is just fantastic. I love pink :)

    1. Oh, I still get a little thrill from picking up some new thread. LOL I figure between my cross stitch, punch needle, quilting, and yarn stash...I will not have to buy a single thing once I retire and have to be on a budget. LOL

  6. I, too, love that pretty pink! It makes you happy just to see it!
And your punch needle project is so cute. I haven't tried that yet, but I certainly like the look.
I am hoping for rain, too, and MAYBE it will come on Thursday! Until then, I am watering my new sod and probably going broke while doing it! haha But if we ever get a little rain, and the weather breaks, then I won't have to do it so much!
I love pumpkin, too! It wouldn't be Fall without it!

    1. Yes, you are right...that pink does make you happy. I am trying to get it finished by Sunday. I am going on a Making Strides Walk for Cancer and will be walking with a survivor. I would like to give this to her before the walk starts...maybe!
