I seem to have misplaced a week. Hmmm...I remember last Sunday, I kind of remember Monday, then there is a blur. LOL I think back to childhood, how the only time that passed quickly was summer vacation. I'm pretty sure that I was not on summer vacation...LOL
Last Sunday, I put in my garden. One tomato plant. That's it...LOL
My gladiolus and irises are doing great. Here are my "surprise" flowers. Aren't they beautiful?
This is our bull.
He's not fancy, but he's gentle and takes care of the ladies. He throws small calves, so no problems with calving. Here are a few of the ladies. If you look carefully, you can see my baby out in the middle. Being white, she does stand out in the herd. LOL
I'm afraid that I have no project updates. Sigh...I've been crocheting and knitting a bit in the evening, and did pull out my cross stitch last night, but haven't made enough progress to post a picture. I'm sorry, I will promise to do better this week. LOL
So I leave you with a picture of my "Brandy" rose. This is my husband's favorite rose.
Loved seeing your herd. :D The brandy rose is gorgeous, and so are the surprise flowers from your neighbors.
ReplyDeleteGood evening,Vickie. I go outside every night and check on our irises...they are looking very healthy. I am sure that I will be rewarded for my stalking. LOL Even though the cows are on about 100 acres, my brother still feeds them a bale of hay every other day. It keeps them friendly and they've learned to come when they hear a truck horn. I love trained cows. LOL
DeleteOh the rose is lovely. :) Oh goodness, that bull is huge! Love the little white cow...so adorable. Looks like you've been very busy. Kick back and take some time to relax and craft. :) Wishing you a lovely day sweet friend. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I love that color rose, also. Mr. Bull is between 1800 and 2000 pounds. He is long and lean, so it's a little misleading. Dad had a bull that tipped the scales at 2500 pounds. That bull was so tame, when Dad drove into the field, the bull stuck his head in the open truck window for a snack. A little scary when you're the one on that side of the truck. LOL His head took up the whole window. I've been busy today. Hubby and I put up a new screen door. You should have been able to here his mumbling over at your house. LOL
DeleteThat tomato plant has a lot riding on it. But that surprise flower, all I can say is wow. I loved seeing your herd and hearing about them. Interesting. And your rose is a beauty. Glad to hear it is brighter times for ranching. Take care.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Jocelyn. I guess you can take the girl off of the ranch, but you can't take the ranch out of the girl. LOL Cows can be troublesome and hard headed, but when you see the calves in the Spring, so sweet. I love that part.
DeleteAs for my tomato plant, I go out every day and remind it that it is the star of the garden. LOL
The flowers from your neighbours are a real surprise blooming that much. And what a gorgeous colour they have.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was child I often spent the summer at my uncle's who had a farm. And I was taught to stay away, far away from the bulls. And I was really obedient, lol.
Good morning, Brigitte. Because we have a very small herd, and they are fed several times a week, they are much tamer than most. But, I never, never trust a bull and will always give them a wide berth. I was taking these pictures while on the other side of the fence.LOL
DeleteIf I had only two cows, I'd call it a 'herd'. Lol 30 is quite impressive. They look happy and content. We have a farmer who lives up the street from us, but his herd is sadly neglected and consists of skinny cows with their ribs showing. I'm not sure why the man is still farming when he can't afford to keep his cows correctly.
ReplyDeleteAt least you have one tomato planted. My mom is behind in her garden. Lol We'll see if she does anything this year.
What gorgeous flowers! We have a bunch of azaleas blooming and a few irises :)
Have a great week!!
Good morning, Rachel. Times have been tough here in California, but we chose to sell before we would underfeed our cows. We were taught if you can't feed them, don't have them.
DeleteI have one tiny tomato flower...I check every day. No tomato yet! LOL Have a great day!
